Support & Services for Aboriginal Students
Did you know? The University of Saskatchewan was the first Canadian university to have a Special Advisor to the President on Aboriginal Initiatives. This relationship has led to a deepened understanding of aboriginal cultures and a renewed commitment to aboriginal student success throughout the university.
We’re a larger school that doesn’t act like one. Our moderate size allows for a more personal experience for students.
Aboriginal Students'
Centre
The Aboriginal
Students' Centre (ASC) provides a support network for aboriginal students at the U of S, orientation programming for new students, campus tours, a presentation focusing on aboriginal programming and resources, and personal advising and referral for students seeking advice.
First Year Transition Programs
We’re currently planning programming for aboriginal students that will help you make the transition to university life. Check back here for the details, as they become available!

Law
- The Program of Legal Studies for Native People is open to all aboriginal law students across Canada, increasing the number of aboriginal professionals by fostering the study of aboriginal issues in legal education. The program offers an eight-week property law course and also provides some students with an alternative means of admission to law school.
Nursing
- Our Native Access Program to Nursing is a support and retention service for aboriginal students, health science students and, upon referral, non- aboriginal and international students enrolled in or interested in nursing programs at the U of S.
