As transfer credit is dynamic, this information may change at any time without notice. A course equivalence does not mean an automatic transfer credit. Students who are already working towards a degree program and who want to take courses from another institution must request a letter of permission from their home institution to ensure they receive credit.
The following factors affect transfer credit that is given:
Choose from this list of post-secondary institutions to view an unofficial listing of transfer credit equivalents. These listings are not comprehensive.
Visit SaskCAT for transfer credit equivalents from the following institutions:
Any Canadian university which is a member of the Association of Universities & Colleges of Canada (AUCC) is considered to be an accredited institution, and we will consider courses from these universities for possible transfer credit.
Credit for studies at accredited universities outside of Canada is assessed on the basis of official transcripts and calendar descriptions and/or detailed course outlines. The student is responsible for providing this material.
Courses taken at Colleges which have university transfer programs are also eligible for consideration of transfer credit. The provinces of British Columbia and Alberta both publish transfer guides which indicate the credit that their provincial universities will give for courses at these colleges. The University of Saskatchewan relies on these transfer guides in making decisions about transferability of courses.
Up to one year of credit may be awarded for two-year diploma programs (including CEGEP) at provincial colleges and technical institutes. Credit is assessed on the basis of detailed course outlines. The following professional and vocational qualifications may carry credit for certain programs: CMA, CGA, Teacher Certification, Journeyman Certificates and RN qualifications.
No credit is granted for study at private vocational colleges.
Courses taken at a bible college which is a member of AUCC or holds regional accreditation in the US are granted the same recognition as courses from any other accredited institution. Courses taken at bible colleges accredited through AABC, ABHE, or ATS may be eligible for some credit.
Courses in church education, church administration, ministry, pastoral studies, or courses intended to promote a particular doctrinal or denominational allegiance are not recognized for transfer credit. Degrees awarded by bible colleges are not recognized for admission purposes for programs requiring a degree for admission.
Students who participate on Study Abroad and Student Exchange programs take classes to fulfill their major, minor and elective requirements. Some programs and institutions are restricted to certain majors or colleges.
The University of Saskatchewan offers several different programs that can assist you with exploring academic mobility.
Student exchanges and study abroad programs are one of the most affordable ways to see the world. Student exchange programs are available in partnership with universities around the world, including institutions in China, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Russia, Ukraine, Finland, England, Germany, Sweden, Mexico, the United States and Australia. The University of Saskatchewan also has study abroad programs based in several countries, including Mozambique, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Cuba. In Study Abroad programs, University of Saskatchewan students study together at an international location.
If you are an international student and you would like to study at the University of Saskatchewan as an exchange student, you must be enrolled as a full-time student at a University of Saskatchewan partner institution.
