Applicants who indicate they are taking the IB Diploma or IB subjects will be considered for admission on the basis of their regular Grade 12 subject grades. Applicants who are currently in high school must have their principal or guidance counsellor provide a preliminary statement of marks, and an official statement of marks will be required no later than August 1st. Applicants must also present their IB transcript if they write any Higher Level IB examinations. Although these grades will not be used to determine admission to the University, they will be used to determine transfer credit.
Applicants completing an IB program will be considered for University Entrance Scholarships & Bursaries on the basis of their preliminary high school marks or IB results.
Applicants must present three subjects at the Higher Level and three subjects at the Standard Level. Specific subjects and admission averages required vary depending upon the area of study you plan to pursue. Please see our IB Diploma Admission Requirements for more specific information about IB requirements.
You are required to have an official IB transcript forwarded to Admissions even if you have written an examination in only one IB subject. If you did not write any IB examinations, you should have your principal or guidance counsellor forward a letter to our office confirming that you elected not to write any IB exams.
In order to have IB marks released to us, you should contact your IB program coordinator. If it is before September 15 for May examinations or before March 15 for November examinations, they should be able to add the University of Saskatchewan to your list of schools to notify of your marks. If it is after these deadlines, you can complete the appropriate form through the IB Organization to arrange to have transcripts sent to us.
Transfer credit will be awarded for most Higher Level subjects with grades of 5 or higher. No credit is granted for Standard Level subjects, and no credit is granted for Higher Level subjects with grades of less than 5. Students who are awarded transfer credit may choose to decline the credit. To do so, you must complete the Decline Transfer Credit Form and speak with an Academic Advisor in your College. If you choose to receive the credit, it is then up to your College to determine how this credit will fit into the program of study. Many of our colleges will not allow students to repeat a successfully passed course for credit. Although you will not be prevented from repeating a course, your grade in the repeated course may not be used by your college. The following is a current list of transfer credit equivalents:
