The results of your transfer credit evaluation will be posted on your PAWS Unofficial Academic Transcript.
If you do not see a Grades and Transcripts channel, you will need to add this channel; tutorials are available.
Whenever possible we identify an exact equivalent for the courses you have taken elsewhere. Where there is no exact equivalent, we may assign credit in the general subject area (for example, 6 credits of junior-level history). This means that while we do not offer exactly the same course, we do offer courses in the same subject area at the same level. When we have not assigned an exact course equivalent, we specify a level of study: “junior” credit means that this is an introductory-level course with no university-level prerequisite; “senior” credit means that this is clearly an upper-year course with at least one university-level prerequisite; and “unspecified” means that the level is uncertain or does not clearly correspond with the University of Saskatchewan’s definition of junior and senior level courses.
Sometimes you will be awarded half of a University of Saskatchewan course. In most programs you may use this credit to fulfill elective requirements. If your program requires that you complete the full-year course, you may have to repeat the course and you will lose 3 credits. The credit may or may not be acceptable for prerequisite purposes: this decision is up to the department that offers the class. You should check with your College for further advice.
Interdisciplinary courses may be evaluated as elective credit (for example, 6 credits of Arts & Science electives).
Failed transferable courses are listed, although no credit is assigned.

The University of Saskatchewan honours the grades of the sending institution. That is, if you have passed the transferable course at the sending institution, then you would receive transfer credit for the course at the University of Saskatchewan. However, some colleges and departments, such as Agriculture, Commerce, Engineering, Microbiology & Immunology, Nursing, and Psychology have certain minimum grade requirements for transfer credit.
If your final grade was assigned as a percentage, then your transfer credit will indicate that percentage followed by a ‘T,’ indicating transfer, i.e. 75T. If your final grade was assigned as anything other than a percentage (i.e. letter grade, COM), then your transfer credit evaluation will simply indicate TR, for “Transfer.’ If transfer credit we award is based on a combination of sending courses, the grade may appear as an average, or as TR. Your grades assigned by the sending institution will not appear on your official University of Saskatchewan transcript, but the fact that you received transfer credit will.
If you have an international transcript, all grades will be listed as TR, unless you are an exchange student, in which case grades will be listed as percentages.
If you failed a transferable class, XNCR 000 will be indicated.
While the University of Saskatchewan has your complete Saskatchewan Learning transcript, at this time PAWS will only show the 5 high school subjects that were used to calculate your admission average.
Your transfer credit evaluation will record all attempts at a transferable course, and transfer credit will be assigned at the first instance of a passing grade.
The display of your transfer credit evaluation does not necessarily reflect how your admission average is calculated, or the way in which your college will determine your average for promotion, faculty action, scholarship, or graduation.
If you successfully challenge a course for credit at another institution, the University of Saskatchewan will accept that transfer credit if the sending institution is properly accredited and the course would transfer to the University of Saskatchewan. The grade will not be listed on PAWS.
If your course challenge at the sending institution is unsuccessful, or if you audited the course, no transfer credit will be granted.
Contact an Academic Advisor in your College to determine how your transfer credit grades will apply to the calculation of your average.
The Admissions Office will evaluate your total number of credit units that will transfer to the University of Saskatchewan as an institution. While your degree program of study may affect the way we award transfer credit (for example, for the same sending course, a student in the College of Engineering may get a different transfer credit for a Chemistry class than an Arts & Science student would), it is up to your College to determine which and how many transfer credits will be applicable to your particular program of study.
If you think you have a valid basis for appealing a transfer credit evaluation, contact Admissions. If the Admissions office is satisfied that the grounds of the appeal are valid, you will be asked to complete an Appeal of Transfer Credit Decision form (PDF), on which you will be required to provide evidence that an adjustment to the transfer credit decision is merited. The appeal is then forwarded by Admissions, to the appropriate College or academic department for an opinion. The Admissions Office makes the final decision, and reserves the right to uphold its original ruling.
