Experience US! Volunteers

We need your help for Experience US! on September 21 and 22, 2012 .

Each year, high school students are invited to spend a day at the U of S, touring the campus, participating in information sessions, and talking to professors and current students about the University. We want to involve current U of S students for two reasons:

1. We need your help to ensure that students are registered in the morning, get to and from their sessions throughout the day, and to provide campus tours.
   
2. High schools students enjoy talking to students, like you, about your experiences at the U of S.

Experience US! is a great way to get involved and help first-year students prepare for University.

Volunteer Duties

Registration

Student Registration – The purpose of this assignment is to distribute registration packages to students who have pre-registered for Experience US! There are two tasks:

1. To locate the student's name tag and give it to them.
2. To sell each student a ticket for lunch.

Special Registration – The purpose of this assignment is to handle “special registration” problems. Students who have not pre-registered for Experience US! and students who are requesting changes to their sessions will be directed to Special Registration.

Parent Registration – The purpose of this assignment is to distribute registration packages to parents who have pre-registered for Experience US! There are two tasks:

1. To locate the parent's name tag and give it to them.
2. To collect the registration fee.

Greeters/Ambassadors

Greeters – The purpose of this assignment is to welcome visitors to Experience US! and to direct students to the Physical Activity Complex (PAC) gym where they will pick up their registration packages.

Ambassadors – The purpose of this assignment is to greet students as they enter the PAC gym and direct them to the appropriate registration tables. Also ensuring that all students are seated before the Kick-Off begins at 9:00 a.m. As well, you will be answering general questions from students as they find seating.

Movement Ambassadors

The purpose of this assignment is to take students from the PAC gym to their session location. Or pick up students from their session location and take them to the PAC gym.

Gym Set-Up/Clean Up

The purpose of this assignment is to assist with the set-up and clean up of refreshments, lunch and entertainment in the PAC gym. As well, you will be assisting students who cannot find their session location.

Gym Ambassadors

The purpose of this assignment is to facilitate the movement of students from the PAC gym to be taken to their session. As well, you will be assisting students who cannot find their session location or are returning the PAC gym following their session.

High School Counsellor Program

The purpose of this assignment is to facilitate the movement of guidance counsellors to and from their sessions.

Parent Program

The purpose of this assignment is to facilitate the movement of parents to and from their sessions.

Wednesday Set-up

The purpose of this assignment is to facilitate the set up of the PAC for Experience US!
