Chemical Engineering
Adding Value Through Innovative Processing
Chemical engineers—sometimes known as process engineers—design, implement and improve technology to make life more comfortable and safe, while minimizing the effect that we have on the environment. They are in demand by industrial and research sectors, leading to many exciting work opportunities in Canada and abroad.
The U of S Advantage
We have an excellent undergraduate chemical engineering laboratory, superb faculty and first-rate support staff. The first year is a common year, and after taking general engineering classes, you will have the chance to choose your discipline. Second, third and fourth years will be specialized in chemical engineering.
Career Opportunities
With a degree in chemical engineering, you can have an exciting career in many areas, including the following:
- designing clean engergy systems
- devising innovative fuel and biological fuel cells
- solving environmental and pollution problems
- producing pharmeceuticals within the biotechnology sector
- devising technologies to extract and refine metals and potash
- improving food, beverage and drug processing
- designing and operating petroleum and petrochemical refineries
- developing enhanced oil recovery systems and carbon-capture processes
- building software to simulate chemical and biochemical systems and processes
Getting Involved
